We know that in the canine kingdom there are many types of marrow and breeds of great variety. There are small, large, wrinkled, furry, hunting, and wild and the list goes on. As if that great diversity isn’t enough for you, each race is also broken down into other types. This is how the types of bulldog exist, a dog breed that will be the center of attention throughout this article.

If you are interested in acquiring any of the types of bulldog that we will discuss today, or you already have one and you are intrigued to know what their distant cousins are like and what differentiates them from the one you already have. Let us let you know that you have come to the right place. Here at Don Como’s we are lovers of their wrinkled little faces, and we are interested in knowing and sharing all the information we have about them. Without further delay, let’s start with what concerns us.

Meet the English bulldog.

Although today we will meet three types of bulldog. The most popular and by far is the English bulldog. In fact, it is most likely that the general image you have of this breed is specifically this one. Small, plump and very playful is what characterizes it. As its surname indicates, this dog is from the United Kingdom. Or rather, it has its origin in these lands.

This dog reaches an average height of 40 centimeters tall. Which makes it a really small dog, even more so when compared to its French and American cousins? However, it is a dog that can easily get overweight, weighing up to 25 kilograms. Weight which is very high considering the standard height that those of this breed can reach.

Another quality that is striking in this type of bulldog is his playful personality, although sometimes lazy. They are very calm dogs and ideal for families that have babies at home. Since they are not characterized by being wild or dangerous dogs, quite the opposite.

Meet the French bulldog.

From the United Kingdom we travel to the beautiful France, with the sole purpose of introducing you to this bulldog breed that has been so fashionable in recent years among the upper class. The French bulldog is very similar to the English one, with the big difference that it is characterized by being more energetic and muscular. It is an ideal dog for those who enjoy playing constantly, since its energy reserves seem inexhaustible.

This type of bulldog has its origin back in the nineteenth century in France. Where it was common to see her as a companion dog for people. It bears a strong resemblance to the Boston terrier, but what sets it apart from them is its broad face and compact, muscular physique.

Being smaller than the English bulldog, it manages to reach a size of between 25 and 30 centimeters in height. And usually does not exceed a weight of more than 15 kilos. His personality, as we have already mentioned, is very imperative to the point that it can be considered very scandalous. It is recommended to have one under the condition of ensuring your entertainment. Since it is a dog that will be in a constant search for fun.

Meet the American Bulldog.

And our canine tour of bulldog types culminates by tackling the American bulldog. He is the type that differs most from the rest, both for his physical appearance and for his personality.

The American bulldog is the largest and by far compared to its European versions. Since it can reach a size of 70 centimeters and can obtain a maximum weight of 57 kilograms. It is clear that it is a dog with a more ferocious and dominant appearance. And his muscles help him command greater respect.

It is a dog that requires good training and care, since its natural tendency is to play and with such a size you can already imagine what it can cause. Although his aggressive appearance makes you believe that he is a dangerous dog, it all comes down to the type of training you give him.

It is a reality that it is one of the preferred breeds for dog fights; however, this bad reputation has only been earned by irresponsible owners. This dog can be just as calm and submissive as his UK cousin.
