This Japanese breed may be very familiar to you, or at least known. Either because of the famous meme from around 2010 starring a dog of the same breed or because of his different appearances in Japanese series and movies. Such as the Katelyn Hetman Reborn series, where one of the Yamamoto character’s relatives was a Shaba in.

The fame of this breed is so great that there is even a crypto currency that it uses as an emblem (or rather logo). The image of this breed of dogs whatever the origin or reason you know the Shaba Innu breed. There is no doubt that he enjoys great fame and today we are willing to teach you more about this dog, in case you had the intention of adopting one.

When do Shiba Imus shed their hair?

As is logical, our first point to deal with has to know when the hair shed occurs in these dogs. To be able to anticipate the situation and take the necessary measures. Well, as the saying goes… «War warned does not kill a soldier».

In general, the periods of shedding are in autumn and spring. Mainly it is because it is a natural reaction of the dog, indicating that it must prepare for the upcoming seasons (i.e. summer and winter). Which are usually the most “intense” seasons in terms of temperature? Obviously the dog adopts two types of coats depending on the next season, a light one for the summer and a woollier one for the cold winter.

We must bear in mind that the dogs of the “in family” (in this group we also consider the Akita Innu). They have a second internal fur, which appears in the winter seasons and has a thin layer of fat. Which fulfills the function of protection? We mention this, because many owners have the bad habit of bathing their Shaba Innu often, and this is not recommended. Only when the dog is really dirty.

The Sheba in’s shedding usually happens very discreetly, so at first sight, it is difficult to determine when the dog is shedding or not. However, you will be able to know for sure, as they will shed very easily and will usually make a fur pattern everywhere, even when you pet them. That is the sign that the Sheba in is shedding.

How to brush the fur?

In normal periods, it is recommended to brush the Sheba in’s coat at least 3 times a week. However when the animal is in the change of hair. It is advisable to carry out this activity more often, either daily or at least every 2 days. Doing it this way will bring many advantages, not only for your pet, but also for you. Well, you’ll help them get through this stage much faster and get rid of their dead hair, plus you’ll get the bonus of preventing your house from being flooded with hair.

It is worth mentioning that if you notice hair loss in periods that do not correspond to the move, our advice is to go immediately to the veterinarian. That can be a sign of illness or signs of a lot of stress. Did you think that only humans lose their hair due to stress? Dogs also suffer from the same.

We encourage you to visit our publication on “Dog Sports “. Having your Sheba in in physical activities is the best way to keep them healthy.

Feeding of the Sheba in in the change of fur.

Food always plays an important role in our day to day life. And of course, for a dog it is no different, if we focus on the shedding of the Sheba in. This process represents a wear and tear for the canine and in a certain way a period of vulnerability. Therefore, providing it with a good diet will help not only the growth of new fur, but also the correct development of our pet.

We recommend incorporating the following foods into your diet:

  • Egg.
  • Olive oil.
  • Fish (boneless, of course).
  • Vitamins.

Make sure to incorporate these foods once a week or every fortnight. Regarding olive oil, the way to use it is by placing a splash in the typical food that you give to your Sheba in. You will be able to perceive a great improvement when you see how the new hair grows soft and silky.
